Founder Andy Blow has a degree in Sports and Exercise Science and in his younger days was a regular podium finisher in elite short distance triathlon races.
But he performed very poorly in races in the heat and at longer IRONMAN distances. He suffered from cramps and other hydration-related issues, including hyponatremia (low sodium in the blood, which can have unpleasant consequences). This was despite following the widely accepted hydration advice of the time.
