Maurten's Bicarb System is to bicarbonate what Maurten's Gel 100 and Drink Mixes are to carbohydrates: it uses hydrogel technology to encapsulate bicarbonate and allow athletes to better tolerate high concentrations.

Lactate is not necessarily an enemy: it is a fuel source generated during intense anaerobic exercise. It is the increase in acidity during these efforts that overloads the muscles and leads to exhaustion.

High doses of sodium bicarbonate help counteract the negative effects of this increasing acidity, but not without consequences. In fact, athletes can suffer from gastric problems that cancel out any possible gains in performance.

Maurten Bicarb System portions are available in several sizes: 12, 15, 19, 22 and 25. It is a tailor-made solution, the amount of which varies according to the athlete's weight but also their bicarbonate consumption. As a general rule, the higher an athlete's weight, the larger the portion size. But if they have never consumed bicarbonate in the past, a larger amount of Bicarb System will not necessarily mean better performance, because the intestines need time to get used to it.

Element A — Bowl
The Maurten Bicarb System bowl is designed to be able to mix and dose the product precisely and optimally. Clear instructions are printed on the side, its size allows it to be held with one hand and its screw lid makes it easy to transport and store.

Preparation is essential and adequate bicarbonate intake requires careful planning. Ideally, Bicarb System should be taken 1 to 2 hours after a meal, such as breakfast, and 1.5 to 2 hours before starting a high-intensity workout or competition.
