You may remember our motto when we launched our very first Alpha Jacket: “Forget everything you thought you knew about cycling jackets.” We’ve done it again. So, forget everything you thought you knew about cycling jackets again. Until now, your wardrobe was divided into dry weather clothing and rain clothing. You never wore your rain clothing in dry weather because it was too clingy on the inside and too loose on the outside, and until now, your dry weather clothing didn’t protect against the rain. The Gabba and Perfetto lines have managed to bridge that gap… but the Alpha RoS is on a whole new level. First, we kept what you loved most about the first version of the Alpha Jacket, including everything that made it your favorite jacket for dry weather: the double-layer construction with separation of the thermal insulation on the inner and outer layer, the flat cuffs, the openings at the waist, the articulated collar, the stretchy and incredibly soft fabrics, not to mention its sensational fit. Thanks to the use of the new Gore Windstopper® membrane resistant to light rain and DWR treatment, taped seams in selected areas, precision in the construction and placement of the seams, the YKK® Vislon® zipper, this jacket is waterproof without giving up its characteristics that also make it an ideal jacket for dry weather. To be called "waterproof", the outdoor industry traditionally requires that a garment have a minimum water column of 10,000 mm and that it have sealed seams. But that means making too many compromises, especially in terms of softness, fit and the ability to keep you dry and comfortable while maximising breathability. That’s why we’ve defined waterproofing in real-world conditions by taking it outside to test in the harshest Italian autumn weather. A drop of water might leak through a seam, but you’ll stay warm and dry because the jacket lets virtually no moisture in and lets most of your body moisture out. So this jacket is sure to be a game changer. It’s a big step towards the new kind of garment Castelli aims to create: one that performs flawlessly in dry conditions and also offers complete protection from the rain.
